"A spectral accompaniment to disquieted times, L.A producer AshTreJinkins releases ‘Season of The Lost’ through Miami electronic label Schematic. As a hero of the beat-making underground, AshTreJinkins' signature lo-fi approach paints a multifaceted, immanently crumbling atmosphere. Blending the harsh tonalities of reality with the soft reverie of daydreaming, his dissonant world affects deeply - it draws listeners into its own expanse, crushed and muffled as if submerged under an intangible membrane.

As an aptly contemporary questioning of electronic culture, the first notes of the album resound through the ghostly airs of ‘what club’ which appear to question the memories of nightlife. A fleeting sense of familiarity is summoned in the following ’28’, whose minimal synth and faint bass flares up softly before curling back into haze. Tracks like ‘empty’ or ‘s7d’ are sensual in rendering intimate vocal fragments, but maintain the record’s peculiarity in their dismembered utterances. Obscured between ethereal resonances and broken conversations, moments like ‘role playing’ occasionally kick back into techno to root the album back into forces of rupture.

The uprooted abstractions of ‘Seasons of The Lost’ reflects the versatility of its label Schematic who hand-pick their artists, shrouded in mystery, from all over the world. Meanwhile, Ashtrejinkin’s precise touch embodies the talent of a true great who had proved his artistry in the LA beat-scene from an early age. ‘Seasons of the Lost’’s Burial-like elusiveness, combined with a floating sublime of Brian Eno’s ‘Apollo’ results in a dystopian spatiality that is as luminous as otherworldly." bleep.com
